The season has started! I have been training in either Loveland, Copper or Vail for the past three weeks. I did the FASST program with the SSWSC for two weeks; I got to ski Wednesday thru Saturday. The other week I did the Podium Project camp at Vail. This camp was only for people who got top three at the Junior Olympics in the past two years. It was extremely good training because I was training with most of the guys who I was going to race with at the next race, which was only two weeks away.
It was cool to see how they were skiing and how I compared to them. Next was the race! One my first run I started 69th, another SRD racer Alex Barounos started 66th and while I was getting ready there was a course hold because he had gone into the B-net. This got me a little nervous because I didn’t think that it was a tricky course. After a few minutes they said it was clear and he was ok. Soon enough I was on the course. I had a few troubles on afterthought (main pitch) but it wasn’t bad until I hit a gate and my goggles broke off! I couldn’t see but I continued, the course swung a lot at the bottom and I got thrown way off but still finished.
The second run I started 67th and almost had a perfect run. I was only three seconds off the leader compared to nine on the first run. Overall it was a really good start to the year!
Last week was finals and so I did a bunch of studying and not as much skiing. I came out strong and now I get to drop two classes for the winter. Next stop is the Aspen NorAms next Monday and Tuesday!

Next Stop, Copper Mountain
Recently I have been busy working out with the club. I have with dryland five days a week. The gym workouts are intense and we do really fun mountain bike rides at Howelsen Hill. Other than dryland, school has been stressful and I’m glad to drop two classes soon for the winter.
This week I am starting my early season ski camps. My first day on snow will be October 26th at Copper Mountain. I have been getting all my equipment ready. The camp is four days long and we will be doing drills. I am super excited to get back on snow because it has been a while since my last ski camp, which was the first week in August at Mt. Hood.
My Mt. Hood trips this year were great. I improved a lot and I’m ready to shred this season. The picture is of me at Mt. Hood on my last day. I’ll tell you how my first few camps go.

SRD's Veth wins Ski New Mexico’s Ski Racer of the Year!
The snow is on the ground here is Steamboat Colorado! All the snow makes me excited for this season. All summer I did dryland training and I still am, so I know that I am ready for this season.
The first day on snow for me is either November 4th or 6th in Loveland. Before my ski season officially starts this weekend I am traveling to Albuquerque, NM to get an award from last season. The award is “Ski New Mexico’s Ski Racer of the Year”. I am very proud to receive this award and more excited than ever for this season!
