Another Year Started at CVA

Yet another year has been kick started at Carrabassett Valley Academy. All students go on orientation trips after a week of school. Each grade goes on an orientation trip to enjoy some part of Maine's natural beauty.

I had the amazing opportunity to go sea kayaking off the coast of Maine. We made the long trip from western Maine to the coast where we loaded up our kayaks with everything we would need for the next two days. This included all of our camping equipment and cooking ware. We then started our trek of a two day paddle through the inland waterways of Maine. We set up camp on Ram Island.

The next morning we woke up to the gentle sound of water on the rocks and lobster boats working the bay. We were able to live in the rhythm of the tides having left all of the structure of our daily lives. On our trip we made this island our home and the seals our nearest neighbors for two days.

After waking up to see the Maine Lobstermen pulling their traps in the morning light we set out on our new paddling adventure today. We paddled back to the main land and got back into the swing of life. This was a great relaxing trip to break the daily rhythm and get to know my classmates. I am very thankful for this amazing opportunity that Carrabassett Valley Academy offers. I really enjoyed spending time in Maine's natural beauty.
