Burcin's Blog

This summer I've had some great training, skiing and traveling in getting ready for this year's ski season. In July, I spent over two weeks with Killington Mountain School in France skiing at Les Deux Alps. We had sunny weather and great training snow during the 2 weeks I was there. While we were there, it was also the soccer Europe 2008 tournament and we got to watch some great matches with the local fans. They really go crazy about soccer.

In the middle of August, my family all went to Portillo, Chile. What a great ski resort and fun time. We arrived with over 80" of new fresh snow and had to be helicoptered to the mountain and hotel. The road to the resort was closed and stayed that way for five days from all the snow and avalanches. We skied in deep powder for the entire week. We picked a good week to go because both national teams from Canada and Austria were speed training on the mountain. It was fun to watch them train during the day and then watch them play ping-pong in the game room at night.

In two weeks I head off to Killington Mountain School for the winter. I am really excited and proud to be part of the SRD team and can't wait to rip it up this year.

The Katharine Report

This summer I went to Whistler for two weeks. I had a blast and so did my teammates. Ski and Snowboard Club Vail has a great group of kids this year. We all had fun getting to know each other better and welcoming back Mikaela Shiffrin to our club. The snow melted so fast it was hard to believe, but today it snowed about 6" today and it got my whole class pumped for skiing.

A few weeks ago a few of my team mates and I got invited to go to the Olympic training center for a dry land camp. We all had a blast; other competitors of mine were there too. I could tell that we had a decided group of J3 and it was going to be a great season with a lot of competition. Since we got back we have been working hard in the weight room getting in shape for the great season ahead.

Keep praying for snow! I’m so excited to start another great season with SRD.
