Racing to win with Modern Ski Racing!

|| A few MSR coaches in SRD uniforms!

Ski racing has come a long ways over the last 70 years!

"Technique is ever evolving, as is equipment, and racers look far different now then they did just a decade ago. The mission at "Modern Ski Racing" is to provide a way for skiers and the recreational racer to not only come to understand exactly where that evolution has taken current technique, but to incorporate these modern techniques into their own skiing."

SRD and MSR have formed a partnership where SRD is the official uniform and race gear supplier to MSR. As you may know SRD has made a strong effort in helping support racing at the junior level – now we hope to do the same at the adult Masters and NASTAR level.

Check out MSR at www.modernskiracing.com and look into their great online racing Forum run by Park City's Gary and Liz Dranow.

A week in the life...

|| Tanning in Taos

Hello all,

My name is Andreas Calabrese and I am a skier from Vail Colorado and I attend the local Vail ski academy. I would just like to walk you through a normal week as a competitive ski racer. Usually I wake up on Monday morning angry that I have to go to school. This is usually where I get the work for the week done. The next day is when I start to ski. I ski to about 12:00 then work out till 1:00 at this point I try and wander about and at 3:15 there is time in my day called "vending machine time." At this point the vending machines turn on and it acts like a junior lounge for the snow sports athletes. We go back to class at 4 and then stay there till the end of the day. I go home sleep and do this all again till the weekend. I usually have a race on the weekend and it is fun to see the other members of my SRD team and catch up on our week. Then I go back to school on Monday and the process starts all over again.

2013 World Championships

Vail/Beaver Creek is hoping to be awarded the 2013 FIS World Championships but face strong challenges from Schladming, Austria; St. Moritz, Switzerland and Cortina, Italy. The 2013 World Championships will be awarded in May of 2008 at the FIS Congress in Cape Town, South Africa.

We had them in 1989 and 1999 and hope for the best this Spring!
